I set up a 3-yo PC with internal SSD and latest Ubuntu. Am running latest Jellyfin in docker. Client is on an iPad mini. Not much traffic on network.

It finds all the titles fine, but when playing back, the sound is often out of sync by 2-5 seconds, and subtitles are off by 10-15 seconds. You can adjust the subtitle offset through trial and error and maybe get them close, but there’s no way to adjust audio sync.

Disabled “Prefer fMP4-HLS Media Container” based on this recommendation: https://github.com/jellyfin/jellyfin/issues/11723

Rebooted and updated all parts. Still didn’t fix the issue.

Any other suggestions? It happens across multiple titles.

Does it happen in a browser client? Have you verified that it doesn’t happen if you download a file and play it locally?

Didn’t realize web was an option. Been using iOS client based on this list: https://jellyfin.org/downloads/clients/

I can access the admin interface via web from a remote Mac. Is that the port I should be hitting or should I open other docker ports? It’s all on local home network.

You shouldn’t need to open any additional ports. Do you have separate accounts for admin and viewing purposes?

Ooh. Just hit it at the reserved server IP on port 8096. Logged in with the user account and started a movie.

Voice is synced and subtitles are only a second off. Strange how much off the native iOS player was.

Thanks for pointing me the right way.
