I actually agree with HBO. Password sharing isn’t great because it means that you’re giving them money. It’s time to get started with file sharing instead.
Currently a 1.72 ratio on The Pitt
Ngl the first time I heard about “The Pitt” I read it as “The Pit” and was super confused why it features a hospital.
Great show though.
I lost my dad recently. I fully wept at the honor walk, and again at Dr Robbie’s flashback scene. You know the one
My fiancé lost her father recently just after we watched
Tap for spoiler
The episode with the brother and sister losing their dad. She lives in another country, and I wasn’t able to be there in person. Instead, on a discord video call since she put her phone down while I was keeping her company, I watched as she cried out for her dad as they tried to revive him. I don’t think I’ll ever experience a more shitty moment in my life.
Thankfully, she’s now in higher spirits after a month and is being positive by looking at old photos, keeping up with hobbies and stuff.
Wishing you the best, I lost my mom when I was 11, no death of a loved one is ever easy.
Grief is weird and normal. Glad she’s in relatively good spirits. Sometimes I get The Sads or The Grumpies and don’t know why until I remember. Try to be patient with her and yourself. You sound like a good friend
And remember, grief doesn’t have an expiration date
Great show… that childbirth scene was a little unnecessarily graphic though imo haha. But I get why they did it i guess.
Yeah I felt like the only reason for it was to get the effects team an Emmy. Well deserved, but felt forced.
No pun intended.
Oh was that the episode they submitted for? Interesting. I figured they just wanted to fully commit to the ultra-realism and real-time aspects.
Now I just picture an episode of 24 about birth.
Tbh I don’t know for sure but read several articles about the use of “practical effects” vs CGI.
Since the Righteous Gemstones ended there is nothing I watch on there anyway.
My Jellyfin user’s password sharing will continue.
Don’t be a savage, create users for people.
I should get into that, I at least have all four seasons of WestWorld still available for viewing.
A seedbox that allows streaming is a great buy. I split the $40/mo cost among 4 people and have a server on 50Gb connection, 20TB of upload per month(streaming bandwidth excluded) and 8TB of storage. Using private trackers I can add new content nearly instantly (under 5 seconds for a 1080p copy, a few minutes for 4k things) so even if it isn’t already available it’ll be done before your popcorn.
What a seedbox?
A hosted server that exists to run bittorrent (and other things). Usually these are managed by the host so you don’t need to know anything about managing a server. You just get a web interface to install and configure apps and credentials to connect to your FTP server.
The advantage is the server is usually located in a datacenter with incredibly fast and cheap bandwidth while also being in a country that doesn’t care much about US copyright.
You can get cheap ones for like $5/mo with tiny storage. These are basically so they can download from Bittorrent and you can copy the files to your PC (using something like SFTP or rsync). This is a better, imo, option than torrenting via a VPN and protects you from your ISP/government determining that you use BitTorrent.
You can pay a bit more for other features too. I have more storage, more upload bandwidth and the ability to run streaming apps (Jellyfin and Plex) which don’t count against my upload bandwidth.
The better torrent sites are all private and, generally, having a seedbox is a requirement for membership. So it also allows you access to higher quality sites with better seeded torrents.
It’s worth it to include a couple extra points on the current ‘meta’ of seed boxes. A lot of these servers that people set up to serve as an inbetween to torrent then watch via jellyfin etc - they are being set up with weak security. Usually read access is left wide open to get all these services working on the same directory where the movies are. They assume there’s a little security through obscurity, but Google WILL manage to index this folder, and now when someone searches for that obscure 90s movie you torrented (with a few fun search arguments like intitle:), they’re now able to access all your downloads.
Sometimes these seed boxes have bandwidth use limits, where they might charge you if you suddenly use a few dozen TB, which will happen if you’re showing up on Google!
If they don’t have bandwidth limits, you still might land in hot water with your hosting co because you’re being a little loud with copyright infringement. You’re showing up on Google.
If you’re not too worried about either of these things, go ahead and be a hero, leave that shit wide open because…
If hosting a seedbox is way over your head or budget, just know a lot of them are left wide open for you to grab bits and pieces with near zero risk.
Not the person asking but I was wondering too. Thanks for the explanation.
Thanks for asking. I was wondering too!
Hey I’m looking to get a seedbox myself, I don’t have much storage left on my PC so I am looking for one that can host the files and let me stream them, preferably with Plex or Jellyfin somehow, can you share the name of your seed box provider
Ultra cc
He also said the company is focused on improving the service itself.
Cool afterthought, bro. Something to look into once you’ve dialed in the right amount of “aggressive language”.
Their video player still doesn’t even support double click to full screen.
Fuck you.
I wish they’d let me block Bill Maher from my app
Piracy spike expected in earnest in September*
Arrrrrrrrrr matey!
That be ok. Me crew sails the ‘igh seas an’ we don’t 'ave to share passwords.
So will the mass cancellation
People said the same thing about Netflix. Sadly, its not true. They gained record numbers of new subscribers after and recently hit a new milestone of 300+ million subscribers.
The new subscribers mostly came from emerging markets where Netflix is cheaper.
Didn’t they threaten this like five years ago? Any time I share access I just have friends/family VPN into my home network. ¯\(ツ)/¯
ive been getting hbo max for free for like two years cause they think i pay through youtube tv which i haven’t had for two years.
they better not take it away from me
So did you just cancel the HBO max subscription in YouTubeTV, or did you cancel YouTubeTV altogether?
i had yttv with hbo and signed in through uttv/google to create my max account but i got rid of yttv years ago
Interesting… thanks for the reply!
How do I find a private tracker?
None of my friends are very tech savvy, and thepiratebay sucks balls.
Add the RSS feed for /r/OpenSignups to your feed reader. Wait for a good tracker to open up. TorrentLeech was open last week. It will probably be quite a while until they open again, but that’s a good tracker that’s easy to get onto.
The other option is to interview for MyAnonaMouse or Redacted. They have invite forums that you can use to sign up for other trackers once you get access to it.
